Japanese lessons with Eva. ???=???=dekiru dekimasu=can, most formal, but common dekiru=can, most conversational dekimasuka=can?, most formal, but common dekiruka=can?, very casual, common dekimasen=cannot, most formal, but common dekinai=cannot, most conversational dekin=can’t, kind of rough, but again, very common endings ——— na=stressor and asking for confirmation ne=right? asking for confirmation node=a quantifier that gives you the feeling the conversation can be continues ka=question Nihonogo ga dekimasen.=I can’t Japanese. Eigo ga dekiru.=I can English. Change the intonation into a question sound by raising your voice on the end and the same “Eigo ga dekiru?” becomes “Can you speak English?”
