5-minute Tai Chi for Health and Relaxation Part 1 of 2

By admin on July 7, 2010, 8:06 pm

NB: Full program available at www.DrPaulLam.com. During the International Congress for Complementary Medicine Research 2008 in Sydney, Dr Paul Lam took all delegates for Tai Chi exercises. Professor Felix Wong requested instructions of this exercise be sent to all delegates. Here it is. This is a step-by-step instructional video of the Tai Chi exercise. It is part of the Tai Chi @ Work program designed to manage stress for people at work. It can be practiced almost anywhere within a short period of time. Part 1 is the warm up exercises, Part 2 is the 3 Tai Chi movements and cool down exercises that one can practice for five minutes while sitting or standing. Regular practice will help apply tai chi principles to manage stress and turn it into a source of strength.

Yes my purpose is to promote health and relaxation. At the depth of the art, one will find tai chi is based on nature and harmony, its purpose is to help us understand nature, be more harmonious with nature, with ourselves and with each other. Self defence is only one aspect. One of the great tai chi masters, Sun Lu-tang (creator of Sun style tai chi) said: “the highest level of tai chi is to understand the Dao” The Dao is the way of nature.

well every form in tai chi has a purpose. It can be used to either block or attack. But this guy doesn’t tell you about it because his purpose is to teach other for $ and for health/relaxation.

If you really want to understand the concepts in tai chi you need to find a very good master. Some are do the tai chi forms very well and it looks SUPERB but they don’t understand the concepts behind it. They don’t know why they do that form and how it can be used for self-defense.
