4 Ways to Reduce Stress at Work
By admin on February 12, 2010, 12:33 amNo matter what your job role, chances are that there are some days you would really love to reduce stress at work. Most workplaces become stressful during specific times of year or events, but thankfully there are a few ways that can help your business or workplace to be a little less stressful.
Time Management – This phrase is probably thrown around all too often, but that’s for good reason. One of the sure ways to reduce stress in the workplace is to ensure that time is allocated and managed well. Not only is this essential for business owners, but also managers and floor staff alike. Without adequate time management, projects and tasks may run overtime forcing other important work to be rushed, causing a decrease in quality and an increase in stress levels.
Get Organized – Do you spend half of your work day trying to locate the correct form, the correct tools, customer data or anything else? If you have to look around before being able to carry out work, then it’s a definite indication you need to improve workplace organization. Being organized not only increases work output and productivity, but also reduces stress levels.
Take a Break – So you’ve got a pressing deadline to meet and you’ve been concentrating for 6 hours straight on the same project! Take a break; it’s a sure way to refresh your mind. While it may seem as though 15 minutes could make or break your deadline, by taking a break, grabbing a snack, or pausing to enjoy a coffee you will not only feel better, but your mind and productivity will be better also.
Communicate – On all levels (with staff, suppliers, or whomever you come into contact with for general business) be sure to have excellent communication. This not only assists with building long lasting and understanding relationships, it also means if you have problems or issues, contact with the right people will be easier and communication will be more efficient and stress free.
