Well my professional experience would be run Prime95 for more than 12 hours or 24 hours. Then you can see the best results in your CPU/RAM/SYSTEM. Make sure you also have Real Temp and CPU-Z. Real Temp you would want to monitor your Temps, with CPU-Z you would like to see other spec like Voltages, FSB, MHZ, Etc.

    1 hour?? y some says? 8hrs?

He could just say “one hour!”

I agree, an error will potentially show much quicker in intelburn than other programs. However it does not get the CPU as hot as something like Prime 95..not even close. Prime 95 my i7 can get to 82 Celcius, and in intelburn it wont even touch 72-75 at most. Go figure!

  9. girass says:

prime95 has an inbuilt memory stresser, Memtest86+ is free and assuming your overclocking for games, 3d benchmarks are always a good way to wrap up your overclocks for stability as well as just to show off your epeen.

I used AMD Over Drive for 7 hrs and it worked pretty well. I didnt overclock within the utility itself because i did so in the bios, but Over Drive seems to have done what it should (among other things)

hope this helps someone (for AMD users)

  11. Turbolad995 says:

I disagree – I’ve read that you should run a CPU stress program (such as Prime95) for AT LEAST 24 hours non-stop, as any error(s) may be revealed after hours of testing.

Yea, thanks, damnit i was worried and it was stable for 4+hours looool :>, btw E5200 2.5ghz oced to 3.31ghz and original cooler, tho other cooling paste

what are good RAM STRESS programs? i can’t get memtest95 because it’s not free :( any other alternatives?

  16. bookshelffury says:

it depends, the small FFT test on prime 95 stresses the cpu the most.

intel burn test and small FFT’s on prime is pretty much the same thing.

  17. AzNsEnSaT1oN says:

intel burn test stresses the cpu way more than prime 95. I personally do believe that something like 1 hour is plenty enough for a typical rig. If you intend to keep your computer on 24/7 as a server, maybe more could be better. Honestly though, these programs stresses your cpu way more than needed so if you do keep them on for like 20 hours. the damage you might’ve done to the cpu might not worth the effort.
